A visit with Codey Bearden + Clay and Steve!

July 22, 2016
Codey Bearden Compendium

To no one’s dismay, we had another great time this week on the Stephens’ Music Company Northwest Georgia Music Hour. Ever since we first met Codey Bearden, he’s been going at it full speed. His band, Codey Bearden’s Tiny Kitchen, will release a new album in August, followed by a promotional tour. We enjoyed catching up with him and sampling some new material.

We also had Clay Broome and Steve Stuart stop by. In February, Billy Moehler (Booze Mountaineers) and his family lost their home to an electrical fire. In order to help out the Moehler family, Clay has organized an outstanding day of music for this Saturday in the Schroeder’s Courtyard. Moehler Fest begins at 2pm and ends at 11, and features Atomic Boogie, Jeff Rogers Band, Bennie Gray & The Trailer Park Cowboys, Drop Dead Nasty, Clay Broome Band, Scott Warren & Friends, The Network, Muletide Perkins Quartet, and Thunderbolt Patterson. This will be an unforgettable event in the courtyard and is only $5 to enter. That’s rad! Also, Sonny the cat managed to negotiate a deal that we’re still not quite sure about.

And, we got to listen to lots of great new music! Here’s what we heard.

Dooey – No Home
Shane West – One Big Heart
Pierce Pettis – My Life of Crime
Clay Broome – Umbrella Eyes (live)
Codey Bearden’s Tiny Kitchen – I Can’t Sleep
Codey Bearden – Run No More (live)
Codey Bearden’s Tiny Kitchen – Tonight
Codey Bearden’s Tiny Kitchen – What I Want

A Visit with South of Heaven and Chaeli

July 13, 2016

South of Heaven Compendium

There’s no doubt about it! The 95.7 The Ridge studio was loaded with young talent today for the Stephens’ Music Company Northwest Georgia Music Hour. South of Heaven has been blazing a trail of Southern rock that is fresh but deeply loyal to it’s roots. These guys are young, talented, respectful, and passionate about their craft. For those reasons I feel like their debut release, Old Souls Young Hearts, is rightfully titled. We were glad to have them return to the show.

We were also joined by Chaeli, a young singer/songwriter who currently resides in Bracketville, TX but is visiting family here who is deeply rooted in the area. At sixteen years old and competent and confident in her singing and songwriting, we’ll look forward to hearing more from Chaeli. Here’s what we heard today.

Channing Wilson – Let It Burn
Kris Anderson (ft. Kira Annalise) – Slow and Whining
Chaeli – Messenger
Chaeli – Catastrophe (live)
South of Heaven – Green Eyes
South of Heaven – High Water (live)
South of Heaven – Headroom (live)
South of Heaven – Red Light Woman (live)
South of Heaven – Southern Rock Revival (live)
South of Heaven – Reasons

A Visit with Jule Medders

July 6, 2016
Jule Medders Compendium

Mullins, Jule, Stu (pic by Elizabeth Davis. Thanks!)

One thing that I enjoy most about the Northwest Georgia Music scene is how much respect the musicians and songwriters have for each other. I’ve recognized this since I was first enlightened to the tremendous talent around here. One name that always popped up when talking to my favorite artists was Jule Medders.

“You need to listen to Jule Medders,” was something I heard over and over. With that being said, we were honored to have him as a guest this week on the Stephens’ Music Company Northwest Georgia Music Hour. Here’s what we heard.

Tir Asleen – Heavy For Half A Guy
The Briars – Wasn’t Really
Avoid the Spiral – Bedlam
Jule Medders – Too Close To The River
Jule Medders – New You’s The Old Me (live)
Jule Medders – The Road From This House (live)
Jule Medders – The Girl In The Lavender Dress (live)
