Looks like a busy 4th of July weekend in Rome and Northwest Georgia and we took a peak into what’s in store this week on the Stephens’ Music Company Northwest Georgia Music Hour. We very much enjoying visiting with members of The HWY 100 Band, who will be performing this Saturday at the Floyd County Wild Life Association’s Independence Day Celebration. Of course, we got them to play a few live ones for us. We also chatted with Dani Cochran about Thursday’s Pink Floyd Tribute Showcase in the Schroeder’s Courtyard, a benefit concert for DIGS. To top it all of, my sister Meredith is in town! Here’s what we heard.

We had a great time hanging out with singer/songwriter Jeremy Guider this week on the Stephens’ Music Company Northwest Georgia Music Hour. Jeremy dabbles in all kinds of musical styles and we were fortunate to have him perform his originals and a choice cover, live in the studio. Jeremy will be sitting in with The Barbaric Yawps this Friday at Dark Side of the Moon. Then, he’ll be participating in the Pink Floyd Tribute Fundraiser next week in the Schroeder’s Courtyard. This Fall, we can look forward to seeing him perform in a Hank Williams musical with Acts of Random Theater. Here’s what we heard.

Talking Candelight Vigil with Jessie + Songs!

As the nation is in uproar over last weekend’s mass shooting in Orlando, local musician Jessie Reed and Rome’s Turn Your Back on Hate┬áhas pulled together many community resources to quickly organize a candlelight vigil in memory of the shooting victims. The vigil will take place Wednesday, June 15th, at 9pm on the lawn of the Rome-Floyd Law Enforcement Center at 5 Government Plaza. All are welcome to attend. Jessie joined Stu and I today on the Stephens’ Music Company Northwest Georgia Music Hour to share information about the vigil. We also listened to loads of great local music, much of which is from artists who are performing this week! Here’s what we heard.

Second Samuel Cast Members, Animal Lovers, and Bob Dylan Fans Bombard The Ridge!

We certainly had a packed house at the 95.7 The Ridge studio this week for the Stephens’ Music Company Northwest Georgia Music Hour. We were first visited by cast members from Rome Little Theatre’s production of Second Samuel. Then we talked about the Bob Dylan Tribute Showcase this week in the Schroeder’s Courtyard, which is a two-night benefit concert for Compassionate Paws. We visited with Dani Cochran who organized the event and we listened to some live performances by John Schroeder and After You. We also found out about Compassionate Paws and all the great work they do here in Rome. It was too much fun! Here’s what we heard.

Rome Shakespeare Festival Underway!

We had a packed house today on the Stephens’ Music Company Northwest Georgia Music Hour as we were joined by members of the Rome Shakespeare Festival, who are performing A Midsummer Night’s Dream. The festival began Tuesday and runs through Sunday, with the exception of Friday. The opening night was a grand slam and this talented group will only perfect their work as the week goes on. We enjoyed listening to original recordings created by the Rome Shakespeare Festival Band, as well as visiting with our jovial guests. Here’s what we heard.
